Passing of Annie Gallacher

Dear Ormond Ski Club Members,

It is with great sadness that we share news regarding one of our beloved founding members, Annie Gallacher, who passed away on the 22^nd of March 2026.  

Annie’s contribution to the Ormond Ski Club is truly extraordinary. Over many years, she played a pivotal role in shaping the club we know today. Her official roles included Booking Officer and Provedore (1974–1985), the Club’s first female Committee member (1976), Chair of the Social Committee, President (1983–1986), and Keeper of the Membership Rolls (1986). In recognition of her remarkable service, Annie was awarded Honorary Life Membership in 1986.

Her legacy goes far beyond titles. Annie contributed an incredible 129 work party days, brought warmth and comfort to early club life (including her memorable Easter “pashka”), and introduced the weekly shared menu that remains a cherished tradition today. She has been, for nearly 60 years, at the very heart of the Club’s social fabric—connecting generations, maintaining relationships, and helping preserve the history and spirit of Ormond.

Even in recent years, Annie has remained deeply engaged—following club developments, contributing thoughtful feedback, and helping us stay connected with past and present members alike. Her presence, energy, and care for the community will leave an enduring mark. They are, without doubt, very large ski boots to fill.

A memorial service will be held at Toorak Uniting Church (603 Toorak Rd, Toorak) on Thursday 9^th April 2026 at 11.00am.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Annie for everything she has given to the Ormond Ski Club, and our heartfelt condolences to Barrie and all their extended family. She will be dearly missed.
